care guide

All James Smith merchandise is handcrafted from genuine leather and natural materials. It is important to maintain your shoes regularly to ensure longevity.
You may experience the leather becoming a bit dry and losing that lustre we love so much. We recommend applying a little nourishing cream and buffing them with a cloth to bring them back. Use this same buffing technique with a damp cloth to remove any marks or dirt you've picked up along the way.
In regards to suede, we recommend spraying them with a leather protectant which acts to repel water and dirt. If you never got to this stage and need to clean your suede you can use a damp cloth to wipe them, please do not wipe against the grain as this can damage the composition of fibres. Allow the suede to dry and then brush with the grain.
For woven and rattan fabrics you may also want to spray them with a protectant to be safe. Although they are easily cleaned with a damp cloth they should always be treated with careful care and consideration due to their delicate structure.
Lastly, regardless of the fabric or shoe style it is very important to stay away from water and overly humid environments as this can damage the shoes. Make sure you keep your JS dry at all times.
